THIS IS BOB'S SPACE. HERE YOU'LL FIND ALL OF THE THINGS THAT I THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTING TO FIRE AND PUBLIC HEALTH FOLKS.A bit about me: I spent 25 years as a firefighter and six as a hazmat technician for the State of Ohio. After almost 11 years at the Ohio Department of Health I'm now employed by L-3 Communmications as an Emergency Management Exercise Analyst. Lists Exercise Information
Things that I've seen or been involved with in the fire service.
April 01 The JobThe new job is keeping me busy. At present I can project to about December being involved in at least 11 exercises. One of the most challenging will be a communications exercise involving the Statewide Radio System. January 19 New JobAfter almost 17 years with the state of Ohio I decided it was time to move on. On December 15th I began working for a government contractor called L-3 Communications. They are the 9th largest contractor to the Feds and part of an even larger conglomerate. I am assigned to the Ohio Emergency Managment Agency and tasked with working on a team that develops and delivers exercises to the state agencies and the counties of Ohio. December 05 Bud GrayLast Saturday we laid to rest Chief Bud Gray, retired, of the Arcanum, Ohio Fire Department. Bud had a long and distinguished carreer as chief and left the department in good condition. He was one old dog you could teach a new trick. October 10 Mercer County Fire SchoolIn late September I was asked to teach an Engine Company Operations Class at the Mercer County Fire School. 15 attentive students took part in the morning classroom and afternoon "on the street" class. We went over operations that and engine company should do using multiple scenarios. A good time was had by all. August 27 Greetings from EmmitsburgI'm in Emmitsburg at the Emergency Management Institute as part of the instructor cadre for the Series 11 Master Exercise Practioner Class. They will graduate in on Thursday. A very interesting group including the first Chinese national to take the class. Things I find that don't fit in the other two.
